My laptop, (Acer 9300, Vista Home 32bits) has developed a strange dysfunction lately--%26gt;
When in use, the RAM memory slowly starts leaking away
You see, I'm always running a bunch of monitors, checking truly everything, so that's how I noticed it. (sounds pretty anal, I know) But as soon as I boot 50% of RAM is being 'claimed' by an unknown process.
And the total amount of RAM slowly degenerates within hours to 12% RAM capacity.
- a virus is not likely, since I religiously use an (paid up till 2009) excellent antivirus, Bullguard 8.0, [has saved my *** many times]
- I daily dload lots of stuff (mostly Symbian 3rd apps, your grandpa's music and heaps of experimental software) but there are no recent suspect dloads
- Bullguard scan,Webroot's Spy Sweaper (with all virus add-ons) %26 Window Washer -for good mesure-, even Everest Ultimate (check it out!) found zip.
Maybe it's just a loose memory board, but I need a (free?) tool or utility to check this crap out. Suggestions?
Looking for tool/utility?suzuki
Have you tried to kill that unknown process? "Unknown" doesn't help much. Also I recommend you to read about Vista'a Superfetch so you can have a better idea on how your system's memory is being managed by Windows Vista.
You can use Memtest86 (free utility) to test your system's RAM
