How do I get rid of the XPantivirus2008?

I download this by mistakes, there is a pop up showing that I got some infected files and trojan, it offers me a free scan, after that I saw the defected files, it encouraged me to download the XP antivirus 2008 to fix it, after I found out that this is a spyware, I tried to remove it in the control panel and it didn't go away, what should I do now?
