Computer Slow and Freezing?

I just bought this laptop about 6 weeks ago and it's already freezing up and slowing down. What can I do to fix this? I've already run a disk cleanup and and have Norton AntiVirus. There has to be something wrong because I keep getting all kinds of pop ups (when I'm off and on the internet) about things telling me my computer could be at risk and telling me to download all this stuff on spyware and everything. Stuff like that.

Is there any program you know like RegCure and ErrorFixer that have the same effect but that I can fix for free. I really don't mind having to pay for it if I really have to, but will it really work. Is it worth buying?

I need help! It took me at least 30 minutes just to try and post this question, because of my stupid computer!!!!!!! Help! I'm going insaneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
