I'm trying to help a friend clean up her computer which has been infected with fake spyware alerts etc., she doesn't have any antivirus, antispyware programs installed on her computer....every time I try to click on the trendmicro online scanner site (for instance) on the search page, we are redirected to something else. I can't seem to get into any sites so that we can download scanners or programs to help her clean her system! Up until now we have deleted 3 or 4 rogue spyware programs, deleted temporary internet files and cookies etc., but can't get to the free online scanners to even scan her system. Any ideas or help please??

Try to install from the CD, if still unsuccessful, rather than wasting your time, just reformat the PC, clean up everything

Download AVG. It's a free antivirus program, and in my opinion works better then Norton.
1 uninstall all free browser add-on toolbars
2 open RUN commands and enter 'mrt' and scan for malware
3 open windows defender and scan (control panel.. SECURITY)
You should download an Antivirus from Internet, I'll give you a web page where you can download it complete and free, just need winrar to decompress.
