I find I don't understand very well how AdAware works. I also wonder if I am "safe now": Norton Anti-Virus plus the normal Win XP firewall plus the anti-spyware I mentioned?
I have Windows Defender and downloaded free AdAware. Is the combination a recommendable one?security
Pretty well covered, except for that firewall...the Windows XP firewall is junk (see source provided.) Many people recommend disabling it and replacing it with a better firewall; my suggestion is Comodo's (free) Firewall Pro:
http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
And I would add a better on-demand anti-spy scanner to augment the Ad-Aware:
Superantispyware: http://superantispyware(dot)com
Note: Yahoo is blocking Superantispyware's URL, so I wrote the URL with (dot) to give the link.

you are not over protected. i think you are pretty safe if you download updates regularly and run scans from time to time.
i suggest you to read ad-aware tutorial: http://www.2-spyware.com/news/post194.ht...
it can help you to understand more about this software.
I second that, Spybot - Search %26 Destroy...get it!
Yes so far, if you want to be more protected try: Spybot - Search %26 Destroy, I think it is still on download.com, hope this helps (:
lot of combination there ;)) i use bitdefender internet security 10, has antivirus, antispam, parental control, everything in same package. regarding windows firewall, much more is useless, antivirus softwares usually automatically deactivate it.
