How come my spy sweeper doesn't pick up on the same spyware as XoftSpy SE?

Does it mean that spy sweeper sucks or what? I am having trouble so I downloaded what I thought was a free trial and well it wont remove it unless I buy it. my spy sweeper is up to date and the latest version.

XoftSpySE has a history of giving "false-positives" in order to goad you into buying the program.

I would go by what your Webroot Spysweeper says. SS is a very good program, but listen to what Ashutosh says and try the AVG (formally Ewido) anti-spyware, also. Just make sure that it is the AVG ANTI-SPY, not the anti-virus. Or scan for trojans and spyware and remove (free online scan, no download) with Ewido.

A second opinion is always good!

all the malware apps have databases on the bad programs. all of them have different ones. some may catch ones the other doesn't. you should have 2 anti-malware apps on your pc.
You may note that no anti-spyware, including Spyware Doctor and SpySweeper, fail to detect more than 60% of the spyware. It is not their fault, spyware is growing so fast that it is impossible to keep pace with it. So, the best solution will be to use two or more anti-spywares together, with the real-time protection of one of them active. SpySweeper has a bad impression of not allowing you to have other anti-spyware software. So, I will advise you that dump it, buy Spyware Doctor or AVG anti-spyware 7.5, and use a free anti-spyware like AdAware SE or SpyBot along with it.
if you run two different spyware or antivirus software together, you should disable the one before trying the other. It could drive you nuts with the competing error messages and the time it takes.

Since Norton Utilities has a Safe Install feature, and the spy removal softwares also have stuff that uninstalls problem child software, safely, why not try uninstalling with one of those utilities?
