I "won" a psp off the internet and would like to know if its legit or if its just a scam and they send you nothing but spam and spyware.

It varies depending on the company holding the contest.

I've entered dozens of online contests and won a number of small things (make up, an address book, CDs, autographed books from an author, a food coupon for Sonic). I have received all those things, so my experience was positive.

Do you recognize the name of the company offering the prize?

Did you enter their contest? If not, and you received an unsolicited promise of something, it's probably not legit.
