Why does my computer consistently freeze when doing certain things?

some quick specs on my pc:

-15 months old Dell

-celeron processor, 2gig ram, upgraded video card, 160 gb hd (about 100 gb free)

-windows xp professional

my computer runs pretty fast and usually doesn't freeze, but over the last few months, it almost always freezes when I do certain actions such as:

-using internet/listening to music/burning cds while DLing torrents

-hosting games on warcraft III (i can play online fine, only freezes when i host an online game...wasn't happening when i first got the computer).

-had to use secondlife yesterday for hw...froze while i was on that.

-rarely when i have many internet windows open at once

I don't think its my RAM- it started freezing when I had 1g ram, and kept on freezing after I upgraded.

It might be overheating...but i kinda doubt it because its Dell made, and it freezes even after I just turn on the computer for the day.

any ideas? i have mcafee antivirus, adaware, etc., and avg. amount of background processes.

DLing torrent files? Probably trashed your registry doing that. Why do you run 2 anti-virus progs? Should only run one. Sometimes they conflict with each other. Dump the McAfee and keep the AVG. Could try msconfig, startup and unchecking the progs you dont need starting up with windows and running all the time since it locks up at boot too. I suspect that you're just another victim of torrent that downloaded more than you bargained for. Probably best thing to do is to simply backup everything you wanna keep and reimage your hard drive unless you know how to edit the registry.

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software . This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
get widgets to monitor your RAM load and your CPU load
