Should you only use a single Anti-virus program to protect your computer?

I currently use AVG-Free as an anti virus. I heard that a computer should only have a single antivirus program on it. Does that mean I shouldn't download additional programs to block Pop-ups, etc.? Thank you for your time.

Should you only use a single Anti-virus program to protect your computer?hp

You can use many as you want as long as they don't run against each other. You could get a spyware software too, but why have more software than what you need. There is one program that puts all other to shame and is far and above all the rest.

The best software you should get is Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. This is ELITE software. It blocks over 173,500 threats. No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything and has active shields. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Norton is not a system hog either and it's the 2nd best.

Don't waste your time with AVG, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, superantispyware, avast, panda, kaspersky, windows defender or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.

Trojan Vundo/Infostealer Problems?

I have Spybot and Norton AntiVirus and they both keep saying I have a trojan virus and infostealer. I delete whatever they find and I still have the same probles. The trojan and infostealer also come up again and the problem does not get fixed. What should I do? PLEASE do NOT tell me to download some free program because I already paid good money for the programs I have and I'm not willing to waste my time on those free ones.

Try some of these virus removers or try doing the scans in safe mode http://www.basicspywaretips.com/freeviru...

VundoFix.exe is a specialized removal tool developed to remove Virtumonde (aka Vundo) infections.

VundoFix removal tool is here:

Sorry, but the tool is free but the developer does accept donations. (if it works).

Good luck.
Vundo is a trojan family, that includes nearly 100 different versions of this malware. Vundo trojan can show advertisments, generate false security warnings and alerts, silently download and install other malware (adware, suspect anti-spyware programs, dialers). It is very difficult to find and remove Vundo, because this trojan may organize connection with remote server, downloading and installing itself after uninstallations.

Since you are electing the Premium Edition, can you add more RAM? That OS can pull hard on the RAM listed, by the time you add more programs or play any big games it's going to get sluggish.

Hope That Helps!

pretty darn good computer...decent price...probably won't find a comparable one much cheaper than that
Look good I would get it if I had that kind of money.

Disk space?

I have an 'old' laptop with a 10Gb hard drive. I noticed today that this is now almost full. I also have an external hard drive with a 250Gb capacity, at least 220Gb of which is free.

What applications/programs can I send to the external drive to free up space on my C drive without compromising my pc's normal operations/services.

Many thanks.

PS I think it is the updates to my antivirus that has filled the C drive. Can I move that whole pragram to the external drive without problems?

any data files can be moved to the external. do a disk cleanup on the c: drive to remove unused files, temporary files, etc.
you can't move softwares that you use to an external drive.

Why the Hell my computer is always very slow? even if I have 1GB of RAM.?

I looked at my windows task manager and the commit charge is 2427M/2521M. I have only 21 processes on the processes tab and 782mb free RAM. When I open Firefox, a dialog box says "Virtual Memory is low" and then freezes but I have a lot of free physical memory. I tried to raise up the pagefile to 3000mb, and when I rebooted the commit charge is 3854M/3911M. I also defrag the drive and I can't run antivirus because of that darn commit charge. I ran msconfig and load basic drivers only and uncheck startup programs and still the same. I tried safemode and still same commit charge. CPU when idle is 0-4%. Do you think I have a faulty pagefile.sys and how do i delete it and make a new one. I am running windows xp pro sp2. CPU is Pentium 3 Xeon 32bit. My computer is 4yrs old.

Give Spybot Search and Destroy a try, to get things rolling in terms of cleaning things up - because it definitely sounds like you have a major spyware issue.Run it a few times, in both safe and regular modes to clean things out.

Then you may want to go through it with a few other anti-spyware programs. I'd recommend the following - AVG anti-spyware, A-squared, and Microsoft Defender. Use those as you did Spybot S%26D. Then use something call CCleaner, which will clean your drive of a lot of junk (unused files and the like) and bad registry settings.

Ok here is my question, having been a windows user all along my computing life,,,,?

I was wondering how many maintenance tools Macs require?? We need antivirus, registry checkers, spyware, adware tools, we need to defrag and run disk cleaner tools, let alone removing cookies and emptying the temporary internet files occasionally. which of these processes can be eliminated by using a Mac?? Please list each one. And feel free to elaborate if you feel the need.

Many of these things cost a lot of money to purchase the software individually. You could probably spend about $250 real easy on enough after market stuff to do all the things I have listed. If you are knowledgeable you can find many of these softwares for free online. That also doesnt mention how much space your machine gives up to run these things.

It especially doesnt tell you how much time you lose in front of the computer running these softwares. If you have enough time with these things you know what I mean. You could almost open your own tech support team business!!

you don't need antivirus, registry checkers, spyware, adware tools, defrag or disk cleaner tools!

a light dusting is sufficient for a mac!

Unless you run XP or Vista on your mac, in which case you need it all!

OS X has no wild viruses, no registry, no spyware, no adware, self-defrags, and keeps the disk in order!
